Our first family dog from the shelter, Winston gave
me my pen name as well as all the love in his anxious, neurotic little
heart. Together, we won an obedience title and taught a number of
local school children how to approach and act around dogs. Losing
both Winston and Nick in the same year was devastating; my only consolation
is that now they're together, forever young and healthy.
